As we were driving out one morning, a dark cloud caught my attention on the side of the road. As I came closer, I saw a concentric circle of old mango trees, within which a circle of cows, within which a circle of dogs, beside a lake. And in the sky above a few hundred birds circled.

An anonymous couple feed these birds, dogs and cows a mini truck load of fried gathia, biscuits, milk and fodder every day. In their opinion these birds migrate from the Australian coast to India every winter, others say these are Indian birds that fly to Australia each year - can't help but smile at the irony.

Many Gujaratis and Jains have an enormous reverence for all sentinel beings and a kind gentleman spend Rs. 20,000 each day to show it! Interestingly, the benefactor who sends this couple money, is an NRI form Kutch now settled abroad.
